Gardner Glass and Glazing takes the personal safety and health of its employees and others on the job site as our number one priority. “Safety First, Quality Always” is a philosophy that drives our construction activity every day. Gardner Glass and Glazing’s Health and Safety Plan serves as a guideline and training tool for our team and raises the bar in safety performance. We strive to reduce the number of injuries and illnesses to an absolute minimum, surpassing the best experience of similar operations by others. Our goal is zero accidents and injuries throughout all phases of operation and administration. Every employee is responsible for preventing the injury and illness of all parties on and around the job site. The team at Gardner Glass and Glazing has taken on this duty with the veracity it is due and as a result has maintained an outstanding record. We have been recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors for their National Safety, Training, and Evaluation Process (STEP) Award as well as their Safety Award of Excellence for five consecutive years. These awards are reserved for contractors who have achieved the lowest rate of on-the-job accidents in the state, and have demonstrated the highest commitment to safety. The excerpt below is from the Associated Builders and Contractors 2009 Press Release:
ABC's Safety Training and Evaluation (STEP) Awards recognize members who achieve effective safety practices at their firms, and are based on 20 key elements of contractor safety programs such as management commitment, safety responsibilities of personnel, and budget. The STEP process, developed and written by contractors for contractors, is a tool designed to objectively evaluate safety programs, policies, procedures and training. “Recent statistics show that ABC members who participate in the STEP program have a 58% lower fatality rate than the national average,” said 2009 ABC Safety Forum Chairman John Ambrosia, Trainer with H.B. Training and Consulting, who announced the award recipients. “Their incidence rate is more than 30% lower. Those who participate in STEP are doing their business and their employees a world of good, helping people return home safely each night,” he said. Winners of the Georgia Safety Awards of Excellence are determined by calculating a company’s total incident rate and the amount of time lost due to job-related injuries. To achieve this award, companies must have had no employee fatalities, and their total recordable and lost time rates must both be lower than the national average.
